Quiz Quilt Rules

Every week I will post six trivia questions, one in each of six genus trivia categories. Each correct answer will be one word and is worth one point (poor spelling okay if close enough). In particular, last names of people and nicknames of professional sports teams are usually desired (e.g. WASHINGTON for George Washington and METS for New York Mets) except when a person is known by a single name (Madonna, etc.). Titles and other prefixes and suffixes are ignored (e.g., GEORGE for King George III). Category answers consist of letters only (no spaces, hyphens, or apostrophes), with no diacritical marks. If it helps, assume you are in a pub in Boston, Massachusetts (e.g., use American spellings).

The six category answers can be put together in a grid to form the solution to the quilt itself, which is the answer to the clue given in the title of the post. The solution will be formed right side up or upside down from a column of letters in the category answers, the last letters in each answer, or one of the two main diagonals anchored at the first letter of the first or last answer.

The quilt solution is worth four points (exact spelling required) and will always be six letters long, usually a single word but possibly multiple words concatenated together, or rarely, something else.

If possible, you should reply directly to my original post within one week without looking at other people's answers or using Google or any reference materials. Decisions of the judge (me) are final, although I tend to be pretty lenient.

Side note: you can freely ignore the introductory paragraph I post with each quilt. It is never intentionally a hint to the quilt solution.

Thanks to Mark Dashevsky, if you can run Perl (with the Tk module) on your system, you can run this useful script.
